Understanding the Universal Desire for Perfection

As compassion awakens, we find ourselves in a new land—or at least it feels that way. This new land is one where the rules are apparent and you are guided easily through the journey. It is a place where dreams don’t die in the daylight; we manifest with ease. It is a place of power, beauty, and abundance. It is a place of peace and kindness. Alice called it Wonderland; Dorothy called it home. Either way, there’s no place like it. Right now, you are likely calling this perfect place “there”—where you’ll be healthy, happy, rich, famous, safe, and secure, here on Earth. I commonly refer to…

BIRTHDAYS AND NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES

So, the life-flashing-before-your-eyes thing is a real thing. Three days before my 36th birthday, I was making a right turn on Highway 59 and Kirby (Houstonians know this busy intersection) at the exact moment that the driver of an 18-wheeler decided he couldn’t stop for his red light. I saw the massive truck barreling out of control through the intersection, and in that same second, I saw every event and detail of my life up until that moment. MY ENTIRE LIFE FLASHED BEFORE MY EYES—every instant in an instant. The only thing that shocked me more was that the 18-wheeler missed me and I was still alive. My birthday…

WHERE WERE WE AGAIN??

Oh yeah, that’s right. I recently assured you that you are a genius. You are here to do something that no one else can do. It will be the only thing you want to do and it is linked to your spiritual and material abundance. These are not simply huge promises. These are the rules of a universe that is more benevolent than most people (including myself for many years) can imagine or have simply just forgotten. To master this game, we must submit to its rules. If you are not sensing this kind of abundance, material or otherwise, there is only one reason. You are…

29 Years Today!

This was my husband (boyfriend at the time) and me 30 summers ago. I call it the “Big Hair, Small Waistline” era. Time has played a cruel joke, as these are now exactly opposite. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that relationships are the biggest gifts we get and the hardest pieces to manage because they are reflections of our own happiness and authenticity. I am very lucky because of the person who has shown up many days and helped me find a way to really love myself and be proud of myself (despite of myself). I think this is what…

Young Grasshopper…

Okay so you get the gist of the picture, right?  Couple running, caution sign. This is only because I could not find a sign that said, “Caution cute running couple, there’s a meteor the size of Jupiter about to land on you.” I think this is where many of my relationships were headed many days, too. Without doubt, the most common question I answer goes something like this: “How do I change my ____?” You can fill in the blank with husband, wife, children, co-workers, etc…. Okay, you get it. The second most common thing I hear is, “I am unhappy.” I then…

HERE WE GO….

DAY 1. This is me with Wally and the first piece of furniture I have for my new office. Yes, it’s a big circle. We will get to that.  The grand struggle of my hair should be its own blog. There is a stain on my shirt, I don’t know where my shoes were. I will be forever grateful for this picture because it captures the true terror of being light-years out of my comfort zone. Yet just in the moment when I thought I would surely explode from panic, Wally photo-bombed my picture to give me some unconditional Walliness. Thank you, Wally. So let’s clear up…

HUMAN BEING…

And Doughnut Lover, Boston Cream is my favorite. Spiritual Teacher, maybe I can help. Mom, Annie and Emma truly wonderful people, and I am lucky to know them. Wife of Dave, who gave me a ticket to ride—30 years and still my best friend. Daughter of Ed and Kathyrn, could not love them more.
